Using SunSolve Yield to determine bifacial inputs for PVsyst
· Malcolm Abbott · SunSolve Yield Videos
Note: This procedure can now be completed much quicker using our new automated approach. Note that the spreadsheet-based approach described here may still be useful for more complex systems.
The simple view factor model used by PVsyst, Rated Power, Solar Farmer, PVLib, SAM and others requires adjustment factors to deal with the complexities presented by real-world bifacial installations.
The video covers generations of the following bifacial factors.
- Transmission Factor (fT) - Light passing between or through modules
- Albedo Factor (fA) - Ground reflectance
- Structural Shading Factor (fS) - Shading from torque-tube, posts, clamps, etc.
- Rear Mismatch Factor (fMR) - Reduction in the extra power arising from rear illumination due to cell-to-cell mismatch.
- Bifaciality Factor (fB) - Module response to rear illumination relative to front illumination.
